Eight slide presentation corresponds to the sermon The Way Marked By Joy – GratitudeIt is part two of The Way Marked By Joy series. In part two, we learn to nurture joy by practicing gratitude.

Joy is linked to gratitude, but not as we might more easily order them. For it is not joy that makes us grateful.” “It is gratitude that makes us joyful. The Way Marked By Joy – Gratitude encourages us toward practices of gratitude, which produce fruits of joy. Importantly, the way this happens is to discern experiences that are gifts beyond the fears we have in our vulnerabilities. We find these experiences in the story of the Philippian jailer who finds that his prisoners have stayed to bring him and his house salvation.

Key message:

Practicing gratitude makes us joyful.

Key scriptures:

Acts 16:25-34

Personal Note From Dave Milam:

I hoped that the series would be meaningful personally to members of my congregation as well as being meaningful in the compelling drama of the national election. My church, St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Purcellville, Virginia is Loudoun County near Washington, DC. We are a 300 member congregation with approximately 120 present in weekly worship.
The Way Marked By Joy series stands as a significant resource for Christians to keep encouraged, active, and faithful. Moreover, I believe The Way Marked By Joy remains a compelling, relevant resource for the church and its members seeking to be resilient in our turbulent times.

With Joy and Gratitude,

Rev. Dr. David Milam, Pastor
St. Andrew Presbyterian Church
